Thank You

I can’t seem to keep up with all the thank you’s!
Thank you to all who have contributed their time and resources to OFCB Ministries.  You know who you are, as does God.  Thank you for blessing the lives of my friends.

–Thank you to Plastic Packaging Corporation for donating thousands of containers for the Bayonnais Peanut Butter Project.
–Thank you to Michelle Levin, whose pulling strings behind the scenes and introducing me to various opportunities means more than she knows.
–Thank you to everyone who generously responded–and those continue to do so–to the flood relief efforts.  A special thank you to Myers Park Methodist Church for getting food to OFCB via helicopter.  (Thank you to Jacki Waring for organizing a fundraiser in Washington, DC.)
–Thank you to Savannah Country Day School and Isle of Hope Methodist Church for supporting the Bayonnais Peanut Butter Project.
–Thank you to Light of Christ Methodist Church and South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, NC) for donating two school buses filled with supplies.
–Thank you to Isle of Hope Methodist Church of Savannah, GA for their generosity in responding to the call to lift the food budget out of bankruptcy in October as well as providing a secret fund for locals in dire need of food. Thank you for addressing the urgent need of purchasing a motorcycle to transport students to and from Gonaives so that they may attend Pere’s trade school. Also, thank you very much for investing in the photography club.
–A huge thank you to First Baptist Church of Huntersville, NC for providing long-lasting funds to support the food budget this year! Thank you as well for financing and constructing new benches for seven classrooms!
–Thank you to First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, NC for transforming the old church into OFCB’s first language lab! Thank you for your incredible faithfulness since the early years, including the roof of the new church.
–Another huge thank you to Myers Park Methodist Church of Charlotte, NC for substantial financial support of the OFCB institution, including construction of the first concrete roof in Bayonnais, which covers the new school building! Thank you for beginning Bayonnais’ first food bank, Joseph’s Granary, which may become a critical food source during the years to come.  Thank you also for donating fine cameras to jump-start a photography club!

(Sept. 07) I would like to recognize and thank:
–The anonymous donor of First Presbyterian Church who is supporting my mission budget of $3,000.
–The Myers Park Methodist Church for purchasing a fine digital projector for the OFCB school. This will allow the showing of educational documentaries, such as the Planet Earth series. It will also facilitate my teaching an information technology class and perhaps an art history class, among other uses.
–Katie and Rob Crowe for the water purifier and filters that will keep me alive.
–The Haiti Art Project (especially Terri Thomas) for its organization and art provisions.
–All those who have generously given financial support to the students of Bayonnais.

–My parents for their unconditional love, including their willingness to let go.
–Julie Gilchriest for suggesting we skip Bible Study that morning to hear a Haitian pastor, Actionnel Fleurisma, speak to another Sunday School class…
–God for this beautiful, mysterious design that is life.

(And I’ll put this at the bottom, because I think he’d rather remain behind the scene, but I have to give a shout-out to David Nichols, who has poured his time and heart into OFCB for many years now, one of many important individuals without whom the organization would not be where it is today.)

    Peter,
I so enjoyed this. Your mother had encouraged me to read your blog, and I’ve just now gotten around to it. I know I wasn’t this thoughtful when I was your age. Life is very complicated, isn’t it? Love to you in all that you do.

Peter, I contribute an article to the United Methodist Wesleyan Christian Advocate every so often. It is to relate to youth ministry in some way. I’m trying to formulate an article that will do your work in Haiti justice.
My goal is to lift you up as one who is following Christ’s leadership, no matter where it takes you.
I’ll try and get a copy of the article to you as soon as it looks acceptable.
    Rob
